Anja was confiscated from a property where she was left on a chain with no food, water or shelter. She was only 5 months old. She was moved from one shelter to anothrt because of her fearful behaviors, the shelter staff just didn't know what to do with her. As the shelters began to fill, they were facing difficult decisions of euthanizing animals to make for space for new intakes. Because of her behaviors and length of stay, Anja was sure to be one of the unlucky ones. But the shelter staff just hated the idea of ending such a young dog's life, so they reached out to us for help. We drove four hours and laid our eyes on her. A terrified, 8 month old, FERAL dog. Once we finally got a leash on her, we took her outside. The sun, and grass... things she hadnt seen in MONTHS. She crawled across the parking lot to a grassy park where she felt her first, gentle, human touch. She kenneled easily and rode quietly the 4 hours back. Anja loves her crate. She loves her canine pack. She is indifferent towards cats. Anja is a work in progress. She tolerate human touch. She has been groomed and had her nails trimmed multiple times without incident. She does not react aggressively, she just shuts down in fear. She has never challened the fence and runs in and out of the house with the herd of canines in her foster home. Anja LOVES meal time. She will take treats from your hand, race you to her kennel with a wagging tail for her food bowl and loves little snacks off your fork Anja has a lot of potential, she just needs a caring home with love and patience. Anja is spayed, current on vaccines and heartworm negative. She is kennel trained, housebroken and rides great in the car. Anja will require a fenced yard and another dog in the home to help her continue to build confidence.
