UPDATE: Luna is now available for adoption!  Her puppies have been weaned and adopted, it’s now her turn to find her happily ever after!

Our last save of the year was probably our most emotional.  We were contacted about a momma dog who had had a litter of puppies.  She is only a year old, just a puppy herself. The owner said she had had 8 puppies on December 20th and 3 had already died....then she dropped the bombshell, the mom and puppies were in an unheated garage.  As fast as we could, we drove an hour away to save this precious family, before they all succumbed from the elements.  When we got there, we found the puppies laying on a towel on the ground.  They were cold, so cold!!  They were squealing and momma dog was frantic.  She was so friendly, but concerned about her babies.  It was so cold in the garage, the water bucket was filled with ice. The puppies were collected and placed in the warm vehicle where they were wrapped in blankets.  Momma was picked up and put in the vehicle where she immediately found her way to her puppies. The foster home, who had, without hesitation offered to take them all in was prepared for their arrival.  Our veterinarian was contacted and advised of the situation, he too, made himself available if needed.  The one hour trip was silent...we were scared we were too late, they were so quiet.  Once we got to the foster home, we opened the truck and there was momma, nursing her babies.  To say we were relieved is an understatement, we were beyond relieved!  They were alive!!!  All of them!!  Now, at 12 days old, the puppies and momma are doing great!  Please welcome this little family into the Saving Shepherds of Mn Rescue!!
