A few weeks ago, Dexter was brought to an emergency vet clinic after he ate part of a leash that he could not pass. The owners opted for euthanasia unless rescue was found. The emergency vet clinic called us and we just couldn’t say no to a dog in need!  So we stepped up and brought Dexter into rescue. We paid for his life saving surgery and found a foster to help him heal back to full health. Dexter is now in the process of losing a few pounds! Dexter is kennel trained and very relaxed in it, good with cats and other dogs with proper introductions. He is good on walks with proper guidance. He can be timid and insecure toward new people until acquainted, and likes to let them know he’s uncomfortable by grumbling, but after a few minutes, he is a joyful, playful pup! He can also be a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to sudden noises or movements, but is improving each day! Just like any dog, when bored he occasionally tries to chew on something he isn't supposed to or eat leaves and twigs when he’s outside so he needs to be watched carefully. Once told ‘no’ he stops and is rewarded with a bone for him to learn what is acceptable to chew on.

Dexter is approximately 2 years old, neutered, and up to date on his vaccines and microchipped.
