Rip was brought into rescue in an emergency situation.  He had intussusception and his owners were unable to help him. Luckily SSOMN stepped in to get Rip to the hospital and save his life.  He did great through surgery and recovered quickly!  Rip is dog and kid friendly.  He is a big puppy so he might have a tendency to knock smaller kids over as he loves to snuggle and play.  He has not been cat tested.  He loves to play ball and will even throw his ball down the stairs to play fetch with himself.  He will destroy some of his stuffed toys if he gets bored.  He is crated trained, but he does not like going into his crate when the other dogs get to stay out and will bark and growl at them. We have found that if we cover the front of his crate with a blanket he calms right down.  He does go into his crate at bedtime without even having to be told anymore and is happy to sleep through the night without issue. Rip knows basic commands and we feel he is capable of learning pretty much anything you’d like with the right level of attention.  He does get anxious with new people and situations.  At home this looks like barking at new people that come in. Sometimes for 10+ minutes until he has accepted that they are safe.  Out in public he just tends to cower a bit but will let strangers pet him without issue.  We think this would get better over time as he settles in and feels safe in his home.  He would do best with a confident dog to show him the ropes.  He is submissive to the pack leaders in his foster home.  He loves a soft bed and someone to snuggle up to him and give him belly rubs!  He is doing great with leash training but will take time and attention to get him used to being in new places.   Rip is neutered, current on vaccines, and microchipped .
