She was one of THOSE dogs. The kind that you can't hesitate about. She needed help. Local rescues wanted to help but just didn't have space in foster care. So they helped connect us with someone that did! It truly takes a village! Welcome Laney to SSOMN! This sweet babe is estimated to be about 6 months old. She is covered in wounds consistent with being hit by, or tossed from, a car . She is nothing but skin and bones, completely emaciated. Her foster mom took her to the vet this morning and good news! No broken bones or infection! The shelter did a great job cleaning and dressing her wounds and she is already on her slow road to recovery. It will take months - multiple small meals a day, cleaning her wounds, medications and a healing, loving touch. She has a long ways to go, but we are so happy to have been able to save her and help control her pain! UPDATE #1 Our little skinny butt, injured girl Laney is looking so much better! Her foster momma has her on a refeeding schedule, (every 3 hours she gets a small meal), and she began her hydrotherapy! Her old scabs are coming off so new ones can take their place! We are so happy to see her looking and feeling better! Keep up the awesome job foster mom! And Laney, you just keep fighting and getting better! UPDATE #3 Our little injured girl Laney is doing great! She is taking her medication like a good girl and is also learning manners! She is healing nicely and loves to play with her foster brother. She started hydrotherapy to help her heal and is having silver sulfadiazine cream put on her wounds. Even though that is mainly used for burns, it can be very helpful for the healing of open wounds. She is a very sweet girl who is looking for her forever home when she gets to Minnesota. Laney is about 6 months old, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Due to her injuries, she has not been spayed yet.
